By being aware of how your cat is feeling and what it is doing, will help you to ensure that its health remains at its optimum level.
There are various different signs that can tell you when your cat is not feeling at its best or when you might need to take it to the vet for a check up.
For instance, if you find that your cat is vomiting, it is not necessarily a problem unless it appears to be apathetic and low on energy.
Cats will eat grass to induce vomiting, often to eliminate hair that they’ve ingested while grooming themselves. (more…)
Cat behaviour problems are a lot more common than many people may realise.
There will always be a solution, but this can quite often take a lot of work, and the longer these behavioural problems are left unresolved, the harder they can be to rectify.
It can take consistent effort and the use of the right techniques to get your cat to behave as you would like and expect. These behavioural problems can range from urinating inside the house to aggressive action towards you and other people.
Knowing what to do will help you to eliminate a lot of the frustration that is involved in trying to train or retrain your cat, and will ensure that you get the desired results as quickly as possible.

As a first time cat owner, you probably have a lot of questions about your new kitten. This article will address the most common ones.
First there is the question of food. Please ignore all those cutsie cat food commercials, and don’t bother with the cat food aisle in the grocery store. Instead, go to a natural food store, or a pet supply store that specializes in natural products.
A premium quality food will have no by-products, no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. It will list a meat-based protein source first, such as chicken or lamb. The better ones will have more than one protein ingredient.
Grains should be kept to a minimum, and should be whole grains, not fractions such as corn gluten meal or rice bran. Some of the newer cat foods are now grain-free.

All you need is…
A dog collar, bells, felt and glue.
The dog collar needs to be a fabric or woven type collar that can be stitched into. Choose a nice festive colour like red.
You can buy bells from craft shops or your local haberdashery. The larger the bell the more ‘Sleigh bell’ the ring of the bell will sound, and your pooch will sound like a reindeer prancing along. Small bells have a high pitch ring, ideal for small or lady like dogs, the delicate tinkle makes them sound like small Tinkerbell the fairy.

It is a wonderful experience to see your child’s face light up when you present them with an adorable puppy. There’s no getting away from that, however it doesn’t last very long and it is only one side of the coin.
Puppies are hard work. They chew, they soil, they can interrupt sleep, they dig and they demand a lot of attention, it’s rather like taking on another child.
Although puppy’s grow quickly, their education is a slow process, even if you have an intelligent breed. During your puppy’s education and socialisation you need to remain calm and patient at all times, and above all you must be consistent, even if you are at the end of your tether. One small slip up confuses your pup and can set his education back.

If you have just gotten a dog or are thinking of getting one, there are a lot of dog supplies you need to make sure to have on hand.
Some dog supplies, you likely have already thought of, such as bowls, a bed and a leash, but there are other dog supplies you may not have really considered, such as a house, the right toys and grooming tools.
All dogs need their own food and water bowls. These should be the first dog supplies you buy. Depending on the kind of dog you have, you may need to make different bowl choices. If you have a small dog, you will need a bowl that is low to the ground and does not have too tall of sides. They could make it hard for him to get his neck over the side to eat or drink. If you have a big breed dog, the dog supplies will change. You will need to have a bowl that is elevated off the ground, as they should not have to crane their neck too low to get to their food and water.

Before you attempt to make your dog drop at a distance, teach her first to drop directly in front of you on the first command and on the first signal.
With the dog on leash, facing you, hold the leash in your left hand (it is presumed, of course, that your dog already knows how to lie down as outlined in The Complete Novice Obedience Course). without moving your body, command “Down!”
Use a quiet tone of voice and follow the command with “Good Girl!” The praise is important! It encourages the dog to obey without leash correction. If one is necessary, it will be more favorably received.

It never fails, every time that you go to bed your cat decides that it is time to play. And, the kicker is that it always decides the best way to play is by running and jumping on and off your bed. Well, there is a simple solution to this problem, just turn to cat trees. They give your cat a nice place to expel its energy and you can put it far from your bedroom so you can get a good night’s rest.
What makes cat trees such a great option for your cat to play around is their design, which will normally feature interconnecting limbs, perches, and levels where you cat can easily jump and climb. They are made from wood that is usually covered in some kind of durable fabric, like carpeting, so it also provides your kitty with a place where it can scratch and claw, a great alternative to your furniture. Some cat trees will even have toys, like those of the hanging variety, built right into them and others will even feature sleeping areas.
