If you have a cat and a dog or are planing to have both, you need to know how to make them coexist. The phrase “fighting like cats and dogs” didn’t come up as someone’s idea of a joke just for cartoons (Tom and Jerry comes into mind). Dogs are often territorial and will fight not just new cats but other new dogs as well. They tend to mark their territory and will fight anyone who invades their space. Cats have the same tendencies and even if they are smaller than to dogs, they will scratch and fight for their territory.
Most pet lovers who have both a cat and dog have a hard time making their pets coexist with each other. The usual response to this is separating the two pets and making sure they won’t meet. This is not really a practical solution to this problem as both pets tend to wander around the house and there will come a time when they will meet. This will also cause a lot of wasted time if you have to allot twice the time for playing with your pets. Another response would be to cage both pets but this method is frowned upon by most pet lovers. The best thing to do is to train both cat and dog to coexist peacefully. In this article is a series of steps to finding harmony between cats and dogs.
Perhaps the hardest thing for pet lovers to do is the introduction. Introducing a new pet requires both time and patience as both cats and dogs requires time to adjust to something new. Both cats and dogs take up to 30 days to adjust. It is even longer if you have older pet, but with proper retraining you can teach your old dogs and cat’s new tricks.

A perfect diet for dogs to become more healthy !
Every dog owners should concentrate and plan the diet accordingly for their dogs. Many owners bear a common fear over the bones getting caught in their dog’s.There is a solution for it and that is stop feeding your dog with a cooked bone and especially chicken bones. Raw chicken cages are ideal because they provide a good balance of meat and bone but at the same time. remember not to feed your dog always with chicken instead alter their diet by supplying some pork and some beef now and then to vary their protein sources a bit and remember to mix up a slop of green veggies, carrots, apples, bananas, and some raw livers or hearts at least twice a month. It is recommended to have your pet checked for allergic reactions to any food and then plan the diet.
Dogs are carnivores and omnivores, so need their meat. Bone meal and other meat by-products are poorer sources of protein. Fillers do provide some protein, but aren’t as digestible. Examples of fillers are: soy, rice, oats, yeast, wheat, corn. These ingredients should be listed lower on the list.
A better alternative is to buy organic pet food. An organic pet food marked 95% organic meets the same guidelines as organic food produced for humans. The food won’t contain pesticides or antibiotics, and it’s preserved with natural substances like Vitamins C and E. As with any food, the organic option will be more expensive, but it’s healthier for your pet, and the way it is produced is definitely better for the environment.
The best choice by far is making your own pet food so you know exactly what you’re feeding your animal. Ensure you’re preparing nutritionally balanced food, or your pet may suffer from malnutrition. Consult your veterinarian before starting your pet on home made pet food.

It is extremely important thing to give Koi the proper filtration in a pond environment when raising them. Koi fish need more consideration when it comes to some of the equipment such as filters since they are more sensitive to the quality of the water then other fish
A pond filter helps to control the biological balance in the pond system and removes the waste that the Koi produce. In the wild, fish waste is removed by the water’s current and because of the volume of the water in the area. When fish are in a contained environment they need to have this natural function supplied for them which becomes the job of the filter. Most of the pond filters that are available have a mechanical and biological function. The mechanical function cleans particles from the water and the gravity and the flow of the water drag the solid waste out of the Koi’s pond water. These particles become trapped in the filter and are cleaned out by the pond owner during the regular maintenance of the pond. The biological filtration relies on bacteria to break down toxic waste, also known as ammonia or pH, into less harmful substances like nitrates which are harmful to Koi in large amounts. It is normal to have continuous amounts of pH on a low level but it can be harmful to Koi if it is left untreated at a high level.
Without a pump to force the water through it, a good pond filter may still not work properly. The strength of the filter may not be able to circulate the water on its own in a big area like a pond so the pump pushes the water and circulates it through the pond.

I have been a dog enthusiast for 32 years and have raised dogs of all breeds. No matter the breed, there are a couple of core principals a dog owner must keep in mind in order to train their dogs effectively.
>>Core Principal #1 | Remain Calm - Remaining calm throughout the dog training process and day to day basis will truly get your message across efficiently and clearly. When a human is not calm during the dog training and day to day interaction the dog will grow to trust you (or your mix commands) less. Remaining calm allows, whatever message your conveying, to achieve a crystal clear result. The reason being, the dog was not distracted by any confusion brought on by your yelling or mixed commands.
>>Core Principal #2 | Be Assertive - Being calm does not mean that you become a doggie floor mat. Assertiveness is a keystone in the overall trust and leadership role as well. Being calm is the conduit to you effectively delivering your message of alpha assertiveness to your dog successfully.

Is this a familiar scenario? Every where you go around the house your devoted dog is by your side. He knows when you are preparing his meals, when someone is due home from work he’s at the window waiting, or just when you are relaxing, he is also. When you begin getting ready to give him a bath, then suddenly you can’t find him. He knows whats up and doesn’t like it. Most dogs don’t enjoy their bath, but here are a few tips to reduce your dog’s anxiety. WHEN Use your judgment and common sense. If he is covered in muck and mud, or smells like something is rotten, then the time is now. Basically a minimum of 3 or 4 baths a year for a clean, indoor apartment dwelling dog is sufficient. Obviously many more baths are needed for your outdoor, active or working dog. To remove dead hair, mats, and dirt, and distribute your dog’s natural oils, you should brush him regularly. This alone helps decrease the amount of dog baths necessary. A good brush, appropriate for your dog’s size and fur type, will give you and your pet a special time of bonding, and he will be so ecstatic and much more appreciative of time spent together. Dogs will always prefer this over a bath anytime WHERE Do not bathe your dog outdoors in cold winter climates. Using the proper dog shampoo and tepid to warm water, bathe your dog in the utility tub, a small basin or your bath tub, depending on your dog’s size. Don’t let a wet dog go out doors in cold, frigid weather. The dog must be completely dry, especially down to the undercoat, that some dogs have. In the warm summer time I bathe my dogs outside and let the heat of the sun dry them. They can run and shake, and take a nice warm sun bath. HOW Make sure your dog’s coat is combed and all the mats and knots are removed. These will only become more difficult to remove after they are wet. Also, make sure that you have a calm environment for bath time. You don’t want the kid’s fighting and crying, stress from yourself and a rushed, hurried attitude. Most dogs don’t enjoy baths, but will tolerate them if you are relaxed and gentle. Make sure if using the tub, that your have a non slip mat down so your dog feels secure. (more…)
I love traveling and I love my dog. Sometimes the two just don’t go hand in hand, but I do try to take him with us every chance I get. Before we take off I do have a checklist that I go through so as to make sure our trip is a good one.
First, I make sure that I have a copy of his rabies certification. I have never had to produce it, but it’s nice to know that I have it on hand in case of an emergency. I also go on the internet and look up locations of vet or emergency services in the area of our destination. Pets are like kids only with 4 legs instead of 2, one never knows when they will become sick or have an accident.
Second on my list is checking hotels in the area for their pet policies. The guilt one feels for having to leave a cherished member of the family sleeping in the car can cause a night of restless sleep, take it from one who knows.

Stray dogs are taken to dog rescue shelters. These are places that assume care of abandoned, lost, and stray pets. They are duly licensed by the government and operate within the set standards. Most of the groups that setup and own dog shelters are non-profit organizations that would like to help the society by giving a temporary home for animals. Dogs are put into the shelters if there’s nobody to take care of them. Right now, there are several dog rescue shelters all over the world. And all of them are manned by people who are trained to handle pets, even in their most aggressive behavior. If you have lost your dog and you can’t find it around the neighborhood, you can check the local dog pound to see if they have your pet. You can then get your dog from them and make sure that it won’t stray far from home ever again.
The US has what is called the Animal Placement Bureau. They house dog of all types, breeds, and varieties. There are even some a-list dogs in their roster, like Pomeranians, Chihuahuas, and Papillion. It is possible for a family to adapt a dog from this shelter. If you want to own a dog, it is best that you check out the shelter first. You are not only helping the dog find a home and a master - you are also helping the society in general.

Many people buy iguanas on a whim before knowing what proper care really entails. Iguanas require very special care. There are many things you need to consider before you make the decision to buy a pet iguana. This article will discuss some of them.
Enclosure
You may see these small lizards in the store and think they’ll stay the way forever. Wrong! Iguanas grow very fast. At a minimum, you will need a 55 gallon tank to house them. They can grow up to six feet long when cared for properly. After a while, the proper enclosure for them can easily take up half a room. Make sure you have enough space.
Money
Taking care of iguanas isn’t all that cheap. They require a special diet, heat, and light. It’s also important that you go for regular vet visits, which means even more money.
Vet
Speaking of vets, it’s important that you don’t take your pet iguana to just any vet. They need to be seen by a qualified reptile veterinarian, not one that mainly sees cats and dogs. If you live in a smaller city or town, you may have to drive a long distance to see this type of veterinarian. Definitely something to think about.

Whether you bought your Persian cat as a show cat or simply as a house pet, the fact is that Persians need more grooming than the average cat and that responsibility falls upon you. If you don’t know where to start with learning how to groom your cat then this article is for you. We’ve put together some of the most pertinent information you need to know when it comes to grooming your cat. Persian cats are not particularly easy to maintain, although the trouble is worth it when one considers their beauty. There is a whole host of merchandise available when it comes to pet grooming these days and you are free to buy as much as you like. Generally though, the bear essentials needed for grooming and bathing your cat include a brush, blunt ended scissors, toothbrush, shampoo, sponge or wash cloth and a few towels.
Prior to the commencement of the grooming process it is imperative that you get yourself organized. This means knowing exactly what you are going to do and in what order. You also need to arrange the bathing space and have your tools handy. Not only will this help you to perform the grooming process in a much smoother process but your cat will appreciate this as well. Cats, like all animals pick up on the emotions we emit, so if you are organized you are more likely to be calm which in turn will help to keep your cat relaxed too. This is not so much an issue if you’ve bathed your cat dozens of times before, but when you are just starting out the grooming process can be quite scary for cats as they have no idea what is going on. Owners of Persian kittens should try to get their pets in the bath by the time it reaches two months of age or shortly after. This ensures that as the cat grows it gets used to being bathed and will not put up resistance to the process. Routine is a key element to successful bathing of your Persian cat. This means both the regularity with which your groom your cat but also the sequence of activities that make up the grooming ritual should be the same. This helps the cat get used to a routine and come to know what to expect making them on the whole calmer. Generally most owners try to get their cats in the bath once a week, although if you own a Persian you should really commit to a daily brushing of the hair to keep it free from matting.
