Danny,

Good post about pet strollers. My wife and I own an online store specializing in pet strollers. One of the brands you mentioned is one we stopped carrying due to quality issues. (I'd rather not say which one because we'd like to retain good working relationships with all of our vendors.)

There is another jogging pet stroller on the market by Burley, known for their high-quality children's strollers. It is an expensive option, but it is incredibly well made and is tested using the same rigorous standards they employ for their human strollers.

The Burley Tail Wagon can be used for pets up to 75 pounds, so this is a big, sturdy pet stroller option. It also converts from a pet stroller to a bike trailer, like some of the other products you mentioned.

You can check out the Burley model here:

Comment on UK Stray Dog Laws - What Are The Facts? by Miranda Cook

My local Council, in the NE, requests dogs found out of hours be taken to a pound up til 10pm (THEY call it a kennel!!!), outside of the county's City. The Council's area is largely rural - I for one live in a rural village and have no transport so would be unable to achieve this. Thankfully I would keep such a dog til the owner was located - others may well not.

The "kennels" claim to have a no-kill policy ... "unless a dog is ill or aggressive". So who assesses an allegedly aggressive dog or attempts to rehabilitate it? No-one! Who decides a dog is "ill"? An ill dog could have mange, for which dogs in pounds are routinely killed as it is not economical to cure them, yet the condition is entirely treatable and not terminal at all!

Our council is providing for its laughable service from the existing budget as there was no indication of what part of the Government provision of funds was earmarked for this particular function. The amount they are allocating for these minimum standards which they offer is £6000.

Another county's animal ambulance service reports that it is getting a lot of business due to this change in the law although it is not always being paid for it! The Proprietor is distraught that she is deliverinng strays to the pound to be killed after 7 days and is now working alongside independent Rescues, who have no government or charitable funding, and individuals such as myself to haul these poor creatures out of the pounds and save their lives.

If it wasn't for the fact that animals are suffering and dying as a result of this law, it would be a joke.

But it's no joke... it's cold blooded cruelty and murder, at YOUR expense, in YOUR name, to save money.

Please think about it and demand the figures from your council... and act on them. A petition is due to go on line in the next day or two to demand that this law is revised, and details will follow.

My dog, a Miniature Dachshund, loves grapes but on every list I have read it say they are toxic. We feed her grapes all the time and she is very healthy. We took her to the vet last week (for an anual checkup) and he said she was fine. If the grapes are so toxic wouldn't she have health issues? And if they are so toxic but she likes them so much what should I do to get her to not like them or to not want them all the time?
