High Blood Pressure (hypertension) is very common in our pets, but often goes undiagnosed until it leads to life threatening emergencies. Problems from high blood pressure arise when a blood vessel gets too small for the high pressure flow going through it. Since the affected vessels are small, the bleeding may not be noticeable but a lot of little bleeds and a lot of blood vessel destruction can create big problems over time.
Your pet’s retina is especially at risk, with either sudden or gradual blindness often being the first sign of latent high blood pressure. The kidneys are also targets since they rely upon tiny vessels to filter toxins from the bloodstream. High blood pressure also increases the risk of embolism: tiny blood clots that form when blood flow is abnormal. These clots can lodge throughout your pet’s body - including the brain.

Glaucoma is increased pressure within the eye. Cells inside the eye produce a clear fluid (”aqueous humor”) that maintains the eye’s shape and nourishes the tissues inside the eye. The balance of fluid production and drainage is responsible for maintaining normal pressure within the eye. In glaucoma, the drain becomes clogged, but the eye continue producing fluid, resulting in increase eye pressure, which can actually can cause the eye to stretch and enlarge, in addition to blinding the eye. Glaucoma is not limited to humans – it can affect your pets, too!
Glaucoma is classified as either primary or secondary in animals. Primary Glaucoma is an inherited condition, occurring breeds ranging from American Cocker Spaniels and Basset Hounds to Chow Chows, Shar Peis, Labrador Retrievers, and Arctic Circle breeds (Huskies, Elkhounds, etc). Touhg it is rare in cats, it can occur and is usually secondary to chronic uveitis. Primary Glaucoma generally begins in one eye, but in most pets, it eventually involves both eyes, leading to complete blindness. Secondary Glaucoma occurs when other eye diseases cause decreased fluid drainage. Common causes of secondary glaucoma are inflammation inside the eye (uveitis), advanced cataracts, eye cancer and chronic retinal detachment.

Once you bring your new cat home, you’ve got to scribble down a quick list of supplies to go pick up. Here are the basic items that you will need to help your new cat or kitten adjust to your home.
Litter Boxes
The very first item on your list of cat supplies will be a litter box. That’s usually the second thing that a cat will look for after food when he or she arrives at a new house, but it is a first priority if you want to avoid an accident on your carpet. Most kittens learn how to use a litter box from their mothers, so once you have one, all you have to place your new cat in front of the box and allow him to inspect the area.
After a few months of scooping bad litter out of the box, you’re probably going to start wondering if there is another way. Luckily, there are motorized products like the LitterMaid on the market that will automatically dispose of your cat’s waste. Other litter boxes allow you to lift the cover, sift out the good litter, and trash the bad stuff.

If you did a search for “teach cat to use toilet”, then you are probably curious as to whether or not it really is possible to see your darling feline using a toilet. There are a couple of movies out there that show a cat doing this, but initially I just thought “ahhh, that’s just a Hollywood cat - normal cats couldn’t be taught to do that”. As it turns out, I was wrong.
While it may sound funny, if you think about it, this could actually save you quite a bit of cash over the long run. Litter can become quite expensive, especially if you have more than one cat. The good news is there are actually several methods of training cats to use the toilet.
After the research I have done on this subject, I found out that different kinds of cats have been known to respond to different methods of training for using the toilet. It’s not necessarily a “one size fits all” training method that works for every cat. Yeah I know, it doesn’t even sound right reading this, but it people really are doing this successfully.

Boosting the immune system of your pet is important for biochemical reactions. The immune system is constantly protecting them from parasites, bacteria, fungi, and viruses. Boosting their immune system will help to overpower bacteria, destroy toxins, and kill viruses. In a weak immune system all those bad things lie toxins and bacteria can pass by the immune defending cells and create disorders. Disorders that can happen in your pets are fungi, yeast infections, eczema, ear infections, slowly healing wounds, food allergies, arthritis, and mange.
Not getting the proper nutrients is the main cause of immune system problems in dogs and cats. Thus, poor nutrition and continuously feeding the wrong food will weaken the immune system. When pets take medication or eat poisons their livers produce extra enzymes to detoxify them. So the reason a pet gets sick is that something is interfering with the bodies natural healing powers.

Cats are a good pet to have. They have the power to entertain themselves rather than screeching at the door all day until you get home. Several can even see after themselves. All you need to do is clean their litter box and replenish their food.
But like with any kind of pet they have their mistakes. One of the hardest of these is the art of spraying. You considered your cat was happy and next thing you know it is distributing its urine all over your fashionable pillows, carpet, and who knows what else.
Most people believe that when cats do this they don’t wish to use their litter box. Yet, this is not what is taking place. More often than not cats spray to distinguish their territory in the home. They pick out a spot that they like and proceed to spray urine on it.

Cat is the lovely pet around us. The kid and adult like it. Lost a lovely cat can be sadly. Especially if the cat is the closest one to us. So, cat lovers will do whatever they can to keep their cats alive. One of the efforts is choosing the safe cleaner for household.
Many commercial cleaning products contain hazardous ingredients for our pet. They can be organic solvents or petroleum based chemicals. Other risks are cancer in human and pet, liver damage in cat and so on. Be careful when using, storage and disposal your cleaning products. However there still non toxic products available. If you have cat, you can use the products with essential oils. But be careful, as certain products containing tea tree oil can be unsafe for cat.
Here are some other alternatives for cat-friendly ingredients.

This is a personal opinion toward this post. The author, Kelly Rossiter, is a vegetarian. I am not a vegetarian, so actually I don’t have any problem as Kelly. In that post, she writes or asks for opinion: should your pet be vegetarian? Yes, vegetarian is everybody choice, so that is a personal issue for everyone. As of me, I am not a vegetarian like have been mentioned before. I think that animal is created to be eaten by human. But however, we should keep them the correct way. There is no prohibition to eat animal, the only prohibition is to treat them badly. Example: leave them hungry, kill them without correct reason, torture them and so on.

Your pet needs to be healthy if you require them to live long lives and as the owner it is your chore to guarantee this. One of the worst errors that feline possessors make is feeding their cats too much feline food. They fill theirthe food dish anytime that it is empty to make sure that they are eating sufficiency not considering that they are feeding their cats too much.
Before you recognise it your thin kitty has turned into a heavy cat that lounges around all day and only walks up to eat and drink. So how do you mend this problem? There is no set diet for felines - but there are numerous different things that you can do that will aid your cat to shed those additional pounds.
Like with humans one of the easiest things that you can is to make them to exercise. The safest way to make them to work out is to purchase some play toys that cats will enjoy and that will force them to stand up and move all over. Find simple playthings that they will be able to chase after. One of the greatest playthings that I use is a pen light. Turn the light on and enjoy watching them try to get it. They can do this for a long time!
